Immersion Workshop
The Immersion Workshop: A Nine-Month guided workshop
This is not a course. It is a guided pilgrimage into the heart of mindful watercolor.
Over nine carefully curated months, you will move from your first mindful dot to creating a masterful, personal body of work. This journey is structured within a sacred container that balances deep personal practice with the guidance, rhythm, and fellowship of a dedicated cohort.
Workshop Dates: February 1 – November 29, 2026
Note: May 2026 is a designated month of contemplative integration—a pause for personal practice and depth.
Your Weekly Rhythm: A Sustainable Practice Ecosystem
The workshop is designed around a sustainable rhythm that honours both your personal time and our collective growth.
- Weekdays (Self-Paced Integration):
On weekdays, a new mindful exercise, prompt, or skill-building task will be shared in our private Circle community. This is your personal practice time—to explore, reflect, and integrate the lessons at your own pace.
- Weekends (Live Connection & Guidance):
Saturdays and Sundays are for live gathering, dialogue, and shared creation. We have designed multiple time slots to honour global time zones and personal schedules.
Open House Sessions (1st, 3rd & 4th Saturdays of each month):
- Morning Slot: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM IST
- Evening Slot: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM IST
- Content: Live Q&A with Shyam, group discussions, in-depth reviews of student work, and special guest talks from artists and mindfulness practitioners.
Live Painting Sessions (1st, 3rd & 4th Sundays of each month):
- Morning Slot: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM IST
- Evening Slot: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM IST
- Content: Guided, theme-based painting sessions. Paint alongside Shyam and the cohort in real-time, exploring techniques and subjects in a supportive, collective flow.
Comprehensive Break (2nd Saturday & Sunday of each month):
A sacred pause for rest, integration, and personal exploration. No scheduled sessions. This bi-weekly break is intentional to prevent burnout and allow learnings to settle deeply.

How does the weekly rhythm work? What is expected of me?
Your week is designed for sustainable, deep learning. Weekdays (Mon-Fri) are for self-paced practice with prompts and exercises shared in our private community. Weekends are for live connection: Open House sessions (Saturdays) for discussion and review, and Live Painting sessions (Sundays) for guided creation. The 2nd weekend of each month is always a break for rest and integration.
What if I can’t attend the live sessions in my time zone?
All live sessions (Open House and Painting) are recorded and uploaded to our community platform within 24 hours. You can follow the weekly prompts and engage with the community asynchronously. The multiple time slots (morning and evening IST) are designed to offer flexibility across many regions.
What exactly happens in the “Open House” and “Live Painting” sessions?
- Open House (Saturdays): A live, interactive session for Q&A, group critique, in-depth discussions on philosophy and technique, and occasional guest artist talks. It’s a time for dialogue and deepening understanding.
- Live Painting (Sundays): A guided, real-time painting session where you paint alongside Shyam and the cohort on a specific theme or technique. It’s a shared, immersive practice experience.
Is the entire month of May a break?
Yes. May 2026 is a designated integration break. There are no new modules or mandatory live sessions. This is a sacred pause for you to reflect, practice personal projects, and let the learnings from the first three months settle deeply. The community platform remains open for sharing and connection.
What is the “Final Project” in November?
The final month is dedicated to a personalized project. With Shyam’s mentorship, you will choose a theme you are passionate about (e.g., botanicals, urban sketches), develop a small series of works, and create one final, curated piece. This project synthesizes your entire journey and results in a portfolio-worthy artwork.
I’m a beginner. Is this workshop suitable for me?
Absolutely. The workshop is a complete pilgrimage that starts at the very foundation: perception and mindful practice. Phase 1 is designed specifically to build awareness and fundamental skills from the ground up, making it perfect for dedicated beginners.
How much time should I commit each week?
We recommend 4-6 hours per week for a fulfilling experience. This includes time for the self-paced exercises (~2-3 hours) and attending or watching the recordings of the live weekend sessions (~2-3 hours). The structure is designed for depth without burnout.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes. The workshop is offered via a monthly subscription for the 9-month duration (Feb-Nov 2026). This spreads the investment into manageable monthly payments. You may cancel if necessary, though the journey is designed as a continuous container.
What if I fall behind or need to travel?
The structure is built for resilience. The self-paced weekly prompts allow you to adapt your practice schedule. All live sessions are recorded, and the community platform is always accessible. The important thing is to maintain your personal rhythm—the cohort and Shyam are here to support you, not to penalize you for life’s realities.
What if I experience a creative block or feel stuck during the workshop?
Creative blocks are not setbacks; they are part of the pilgrimage. The workshop is designed to meet these moments with kindness. You will have multiple avenues for support: bringing it up in an Open House session, sharing in the community circle where peers often offer surprising insights, and through the mindful prompts that gently guide you back to curiosity rather than outcome.
How intimate and interactive is the cohort? Will I get personal attention?
The cohort is intentionally kept small to foster a sensitive, connected container. Personal attention is woven into the fabric of the workshop through the review segments in Open House sessions, community feedback, and especially during the dedicated Final Project mentorship. This is a guided journey, not a broadcast.
I’m not used to sharing my work or speaking in groups. Is that mandatory?
Sharing is always invited, never required. You may participate entirely through observation, listening, and private practice. Many find that the safety and warmth of the Watermind circle gradually encourage them to share when they feel ready. Your journey is respected exactly as it unfolds.
Will the workshop focus on a specific style of watercolor?
The workshop focuses on cultivating your voice, not imitating a style. We explore techniques and philosophies that serve expressive freedom—from controlled glazing to fluid pours. The goal is to equip you with a versatile toolkit and a mindful approach so your own authentic style can emerge naturally.
What happens after the workshop ends?
Your access to the course materials and community platform continues for a grace period, allowing for continued review and connection. Many alumni choose to continue their practice within the broader Watermind community, and you’ll leave with a completed body of work, a deepened personal practice, and a circle of fellow travelers for ongoing inspiration
